Company to scan medical records.
Associated Purchasing Services (APS) has selected Kansas City, Mo.-based Media Services as a preferred medical records scanning services vendor for its membership and the Missouri and Kansas Regional Extension Center (RECs).
APS is a group purchasing organization affiliated with the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA) and the Kansas Hospital Association (KHA).
The RECs serve health care providers, helping them become adept users of electronic health records (EHRs). RECs are designed to make sure primary care clinicians receive the support they need to use EHRs.
“Media Services is uniquely positioned as the only locally owned, full-service records center that offers a customized process specifically designed for EMR conversions,” according to a press release issued by the company. The process is available to members of APS and to the participants of the Missouri and Kansas RECs. APS has supported the RECs through the procurement of multiple contracts for products and services to transition to electronic health records.
Media Services has partnered with Janine Akers of DataFile Technologies to support this expansion. Akers, a health information veteran, is responsible for helping build the EMR conversion and scanning services for Media Services.
“It’s a great opportunity to serve APS and the Regional Extension Centers with our expanded document imaging center by focusing on EMR conversions,” says Bob Featherston, vice president of sales and marketing with Media Services. “We look forward to helping the health information industry navigate the transition from paper to digital records.”
