Iron Mountain Inc., headquartered in Boston, has announced the acquisition of document storage assets in Madison, Wis., and Wilmington, N.C.

In Wisconsin, Iron Mountain acquired Datastore, the record storage division of Madison-based Coakley Brothers, a moving and facilities management company based in Milwaukee. Datastore, founded in 2001, provides records storage, media vaulting and document scanning services to customers in Milwaukee, Madison and the Chicago area. Under the terms of the deal, Iron Mountain will take ownership of Datastore records storage facilities in Cudahy and Sun Prairie, Wis.

Iron Mountain says the Datastore acquisition complements the shredding services the company already provides to the Madison market.

In North Carolina, Iron Mountain has acquired Data Technology Services (DTS), which has been operating in the Wilmington area since 1991. With the acquisition, Iron Mountain will take possession of a 24,000-square-foot records center in Wilmington.

Iron Mountain says the two acquisitions will give it an in-market presence for providing storage, scanning and shredding services in these two areas.

“We welcome the customers of Datastore and DTS and are committed to providing them the highest level of service for their storage and information needs,” says Harold Ebbighausen, North America president for Iron Mountain. “Having storage facilities in these markets enables us to move with greater speed and efficiency, and that’s good for us and our customers. Acquisitions are a key to expanding our presence in both new and existing markets, allowing us to drive growth and returns on invested capital.”
