Blancco Supports Global Privacy Initiatives and Best Practices

2/1/2012

Enforceable corporate data security policies and regulatory compliance needed worldwide, company says.

Blancco, which supplies data erasure and computer reuse solutions, has announced its support for Data Privacy Day, a worldwide initiative designed to promote awareness of best privacy practices. Blancco joined companies including Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, eBay and AT&T in endorsing the celebration, which was Jan. 28, 2012.

In a statement, Blancco reminds organizations to adopt and enforce a comprehensive data security policy, including the removal of all data from used or disposed IT assets.

“As a global leader in data erasure solutions, Blancco is committed to helping organizations secure their data and to meet or exceed regulatory compliance requirements by incorporating best erasure practices as part of an overall data security policy,” says Markku Willgren, president of Blancco’s U.S. operations. “Blancco’s support of Data Privacy Day 2012 highlights our dedication to education and action on data security issues around the globe.”

Despite growing legislative and industry demands, however, many company policies still do not address data erasure of IT assets, leaving them open to costly data breaches in terms of regulatory fines and damaged reputation, the company says.
