General Shredding, an on-site document destruction and recycling firm located in Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., has announced that it is offering secure, on-site hard drive destruction.
Brendan Fossee, General Shredding vice president, notes, “Our society is using less paper each day, which means more and more information will be stored digitally. We are very excited to be able to offer our customers an efficient, on-site option to destroy that digital information.”
General Shredding says it can wipe hard drives, erasing the information to Department of Defense and National Security Agency standards. Data overwriting is sometimes chosen over physical destruction because the drives can be reused. General Shredding can perform the wiping process on-site or off-site, depending on the customer’s needs and wants.
If physical destruction is desired, General Shredding says it will responsibly recycle the drives following destruction.
