Access Information Management Acquires Alabama Company

Acquisition of Records Retention Services Inc. expands company’s reach into the Southeast.
Livermore, Calif.-based
Access Information Management, a provider of records management, storage and destruction services for hardcopy and electronic records, has acquired the assets of Records Retention Services Inc., Montgomery, Ala. This acquisition extends Access' service coverage area in the Southeast and includes a full-service records management storage center and plant-based document destruction facility. Access says the company is its 35th acquisition.
Under the direction of Branch Manager Andrew Garner and of General Manager Gary West, Access will continue to service the existing client base as well as new clients from the local records management facilities in Montgomery, the company says.
Access President John Chendo says, “Records Retention Services Inc. was an exemplary vendor in the Montgomery market, making its transition to Access a smooth one for both the local team and clients. We are now building on what the previous team started and taking our service offering and client support to the next level; ultimately helping clients to mitigate the risks associated with RIM (records and information management) and offering greater long-term value for clients in the region.”
Rob Alston, Access Information Management CEO, says the company will enhance Records Retention Services existing service offering as it integrates the company following the merger. The company plans to certify its newly acquired shredding operation to the standard established by the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), increase its imaging offering and introduce Web-hosted documents.
Alston also says by growing through acquisition, Access is able to create the most immediate value. However, he says organic growth also is an important component of the company’s strategy and includes proper management of existing clients and creating and closing opportunities with new clients.
Access offers a suite of RIM services, including records management, data protection (electronic computer media), secure destruction and digital access solutions.
