Toledo, Ohio-based AccuShred, an information destruction and electronics recycling company headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, has acquired Temperance, Mich.-based Metro Secure Shred, a mobile document shredding company, doubling its fleet of shred trucks.

According to a press release issued by AccuShred, the acquisition makes the company one of the largest privately held information destruction companies in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.

AccuShred Sales Manager Jeff Green says off-site destruction makes up 80 percent of the company’s business, while on-site service makes up 20 percent.

AccuShred President Nate Segall says the company gains additional service capacity as a result of the acquisition. “By adding Metro Secure Shred’s shredding trucks, staff and customers to our existing organization, we can continue to enhance our service levels and stay ahead of the increasing demand for information destruction services.”

According to AccuShred, Metro Secure Shred’s reputation for customer service was a strong fit. Metro’s customers include the Toledo Police Department and General Motors Powertrain.

Mark Seeger, president of Metro Secure Shred, will join the AccuShred staff, where he will serve as an information security consultant, according to Green. In this role, Seeger will be responsible for account management and for servicing clients, Green says.

“As demand for information destruction grows, so too will the requirements for experience and professionalism,” Segall says. “We think bringing Metro Secure Shred into the AccuShred family raises the bar for service excellence and expertise in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.”

AccuShred, established in 2002, provides on- and off-site document destruction services as well as electronics recycling. The company is a subsidiary of the State Paper and Metal Co. and operated two shred trucks prior to the acquisition of Metro Secure Shred as well as four collection vehicles for off-site shredding services.
