Web-based Mentor Fleet is designed to help companies lower operating costs and increase efficiency.
Mentor Engineering, Calgary, Alberta, has released Mentor Fleet, a Web-based mobile workforce management solution that offers automatic vehicle location (AVL)/GPS, vehicle telematics, driver behavior monitoring, reporting and maintenance capabilities.
Mentor Fleet is made up of several integrated modules that give users the ability to track where and what all of the vehicles in their fleet are doing by viewing them on a map in real time. Locations are also updated in real time, and key vehicle or driver information can be viewed quickly to help give users a clear view of their operations, according to the company.
Mentor Fleet is designed to help operations better manage their fuel costs by tracking unnecessary idling, excessive speed and unauthorized usage of fleet vehicles. “Monitoring speed and idling helps users identify at-risk drivers and develop training programs to encourage safer driving practices, which ultimately helps reduce fuel costs,” according to Mentor Engineering.
Users also can lower operating costs by managing fleet maintenance schedules using Mentor Fleet. Vehicles can be brought in exactly when service is needed, minimizing downtime in light of repairs, according to the company.
"We are excited to offer Mentor Fleet as a new way to help clients manage the day-to-day challenges of their fleet-based business,” says Mike Koebel, vice president of sales and business development at Mentor. “With the ability to track such metrics as when and where vehicles exceed a speed threshold and reducing the avoidable idling of vehicles, clients can encourage better driver behavior and see real fuel savings.”
